| Spring tension design holds jaws against object being pulled, then adjusting or locking nut is tightened, thus clamping the puller securely. Different jaws can be used with yoke, allowing tremendous variety within the Williams® line. Jaws are forged for maximum strength. Forging is a proven process to control dimensions and provide the basis for precise heat treating. Curved jaw design allows for a secure grip, flush to the object being pulled. Jaws can also be reversed in a simple operation (no nuts and bolts) by pulling up the locking plate. Two jaw positions feature helps avoid stresses created from wedging action to allow straighter pull. One set of jaws and one yoke actually provides capabilities of 3 pullers. Pins are forged as part of the jaw - this allows for easy interchange of jaws; no nuts or bolts that can be misplaced. Numbers are stamped on jaws for easy identification and reorder. Features a parabolic curved anvil head - a feature on the head of the pressure screw for occasional hammer blows to "persuade" frozen gears and pulleys. Designed to reduce mushrooming. Easily redressed with a hand file. A hex head on screw means that the pressure screw can be turned with a standard hex wrench or socket - no special tools needed. Pressure screws have rolled threads (fine [NF] on manual, coarse [NC] on hydraulic), instead of cut threads, making them stronger and more durable. The centering point directs power to help prevent cocking of the puller. Also allows easy, almost friction-free turning of the pressure screw. Generally only the centering point and not the whole screw need replacing, saving big dollars. Yoke is forged and precisely heat-treated for maximum strength and durability. Yoke is compatible with both slide hammer or pressure screw. It is also recommended that a lubrication compound be used on the pressure screws. Many of our pullers can be assembled with a longer pressure screw to use slide hammer power. This is especially useful in removing blind hole bearings. |
