| Stubby length. Initially designed for use with the Criterion boring heads, the TAS line of indexable boring tools can be used in engine lathes, turret lathes and automatics. They are equally adaptable in machines where the tool or the work turns. These tools feature a round shank with parallel flats for secure 3 point clamping in a round hole or 2 point clamping when used in a turret post or similar holder. These bars will take flat top inserts or chip control style inserts. For added strength and rigidity, the quill portion of the shank is oval shaped. In addition to providing greater chip clearance, this design helps eliminate tool deflection resulting in better cutting performance. Both styles of inserts are held into the pocket with a Torx screw, and come in an attractive tool block that holds each tool in an upright position for easy access. |
